NFPA is committed to paralegal involvement in pro bono services, and the delegates have adopted pro bono related agenda topics since 1979. In 1999, NFPA's Model Code of Ethics was amended to include a 24-hour annual pro bono aspiration. The most recent resolution, passed in 2006, created a program to acknowledge and recognize the endeavors and contributions that paralegals make toward community service projects, and further amended the Model Code to include a 24-hour annual community service aspiration. NFPA recognizes those who achieve the pro bono and community service goals at its annual convention, this year being held in Hartford, CT.
