“Updates on Paralegal Growth, Community Involvement, Paralegal Networking and the Importance of Giving Back”

Melissa DeGroff brings energy, experience and expertise to her practice of law.  She believes customer service is key to the attorney-client relationship. Because of her availability, her quick response to questions and concerns, and her dedication to solving problems, De Groff often gains new clients through referrals. In the broader community, De Groff participates in organizations that benefit young people and dogs, and she volunteers her legal expertise through Indianapolis Bar Association-sponsored activities. Melissa is an avid reader, organic gardener and dog lover, and is kind to small children. She will enlighten us on the importance of the IndyBar’s Ask-A-Lawyer Program with a wrap-up of the recent April 8, 2014 record-breaking event.

Erin M. Engels is the Lecturer/Director of Paralegal Studies at IUPUI in Indianapolis.  She teaches Introduction to Law, Legal Research and Writing, Advanced Research and Writing, Bankruptcy Law, Estate Law and American Politics.  She also serves as the Paralegal Advisor and the Pre-law Advisor. Erin was previously a solo practitioner in Pittsboro, Indiana where her practice areas included estate planning, business planning and representation, and non-profit corporation representation. Erin and her husband, Kevin, have three children.  They reside on a small farm in rural Hendricks County where they raise chickens and dairy goats.
