Gary L. Miller is the presiding Judge in the Marion Superior Court 21, Criminal Division.  He was a Senior Judge, appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court, January 2009- January 2013.  He has also served as Judge in the Marion Superior Court 5, Civil Division from January 1, 2001 until December 2008.  From January 1991 until Deccember 2000 he was assigned to the Criminal Division where he presided over more than 400 major felony jury trials.  When he retired from the bench in 2008, he started the law firm of Miller Meyer LLP with his wife Tammy Meyer, practicing in the areas of mediation, civil and criminal litigation and as a consultant on legal ethics issues.

He received his A.B. degree from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1977 and his J.D. in 1980 from the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis

Miller has served as an adjunct Professor of Law at the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis since 1992.  He teaches Trial Practice and Professional Responsibility.

Judge Miller has lectured on criminal, civil law, and legal ethics issues throughout the Midwest and in Canada including the Indiana Judicial Center,  Indiana State Bar Association, the Commercial Law League of America, the Transportation Lawyers of America, and Medmarc Insurance Group.

Judge Miller is active in the Indianapolis Bar Association and served as President in 2003.  He is a fellow of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association.  He has been on the Board of the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis Alumni Association since 1993, and completed a term as president in 2000-2001.
