Thank you all for your generous support of the Navy Legalman and Military Paralegal Outreach Program!  We are gearing up for another care package mailing in December, which will be the program’s one-year anniversary since the first 9 care packages were mailed.  Currently, the program is supporting 49 Navy Legalmen or Military Paralegals.  Thanks goes out to everyone who has made this program such a rousing success.    Many thanks to Hollingsworth Jocham & Zivitz, LLC for graciously offering to cover the cost of postage for the October mailing.

After the October care package mailing, we received email communication from LN1 Tommy Butler, one of the Navy Legalmen we supported during the October mailing.  I have received permission to share the email and the photograph of the unit (unfortunately, I am not sure which one LN1 Butler is) that was sent along with it.   The following is LN1 Butler's communication:

"I just wanted to thank you all for supporting me while I am deployed by sending me the wonderful care package.   The package reached me in good condition and all items within were greatly appreciated and needed.  I enclosed a picture of our staff supporting the “Legal Mission” of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM here in Baghdad Iraq.  Once again, thank you and GOD Bless."

and later,

"Yes, you may share the email and photograph with your members.  You should all be recognized for the support you provide for the troops here in Iraq.  My projected month to return home is late February 2007.  Thank you for keeping us connected with HOME."

If you would like to make a donation or help with the December care package mailing, please contact me.  Thank you again, for supporting this worthwhile project! (11/27/06)

Navy Legalman and Military Paralegal Outreach Program - (10/11/06)

We are in need of donations for the October mailing for the Navy Legalman and Military Paralegal Outreach Program.  We will be supporting 2 Navy Legalmen and/or Military Paralegals, LN1 Tommy Butler and SrA Cedric Baxter.  Next time you are at the grocery store, throw in an extra box of EasyMac, a box of the packets of flavoring that you add to a bottle of water, or a box of the new “add water and microwave” Hamburger Helpers, or any other easy, useful products that might make our military counterparts more comfortable while stationed thousands of miles away from home!  Then bring your donations to our next monthly meeting on October 18th!

The Legalmen Project is now officially the Navy Legalmen and Military Paralegal Program!  The program not only has a new name, but has also expanded and is going strong! NFPA and member associates, including our very own, are now sending care packages to Legalmen and Military Paralegals at 5 locations in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The goal of the program is to support our military counter-parts overseas and try to make their deployment a little more comfortable, along with bringing them information about the civilian paralegal profession.

To help out, IPA sent boxes to 3 Navy Legalmen/Military Paralegals in June, though we will be back down to 1 for the August mailing, unless help is needed.  Tracy Jackson has now returned home and our new permanently assigned Navy Legalman is Lacey Rainer.

We need your help!  We are in need of donations for the mailings.  Please feel free to get creative!  Fun items (not too silly though) such as hand-held electronic games, mind-bending games/puzzles, novels and other fun and creative ideas are welcome, along with such as stand-by's as those listed on the IPA website.  Cards and letters to any of the Navy Legalmen and Military Paralegals are also requested.  Please bring your notes, cards, letters or other donations to our July Installation Ceremony.  Thank you everyone for your generous support!  Hope to see you there!

We will be accepting donations, either monetary or specific items, at the monthly meetings.  Please note that items and books religious in nature are restricted, as are playing cards.  Some suggested items for donation are as follows:
