Kathryn L. Myers
Kathryn L. Myers is an Associate Professor, the Coordinator of Paralegal Studies, and Director of the Honors Program at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, a small, Catholic, liberal arts college for women in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. She has been involved in paralegal education since 1982 when she helped create this paralegal program.
During her time at the Woods, she developed Law Day which brought the Indiana Court of Appeals and high school students to campus. This program was named the ABA “Outstanding Law Day Program for 1998” and has been the only college program to win this award. She has created a Legal Nurse Program, redefined the Pre-Law Program, modified the political science minor, created a Criminal Justice program and then created a Criminology program.
She has been active in the American Association for Paralegal Educators (AAfPE) since 1989. She has hosted two annual and two regional AAfPE conferences in Indianapolis, was editor of The Paralegal Educator, was secretary and President of the AAfPE board, and was on the national conference committee for thirteen years, twelve of which were as chairperson. She has presented a wide variety of educational sessions on both the regional and national levels.
She is actively involved in all paralegal organizations, such as IPA. She frequently speaks at state and national meetings. She is also a frequent speaker at continuing education seminars sponsored by the Indiana and Indianapolis Bar Associations. She reviews, publishes, and lectures on various areas of paralegal education such as research and writing, grant writing, litigation, career development, communication skills, internships, and substantive law topics. She has written three books: Legal Research, Legal Writing, and Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing.
In 2010, Governor Mitch Daniels named her a Distinguished Hoosier.
Locally, she is Vice President in Children's Theatre of Terre Haute, a Girl Scout leader, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), on the CASAKids Board, and is a Mother's March of Dimes volunteer. She holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
